About TERM

TERM is a real-time digital media monitoring system used to track tobacco marketing online through the collection of news, social media posts, and media articles.

TERM began as a tool on Facebook allowing the public to report tobacco marketing instances, including point-of-sale ads, marketing in films, and advertising near schools. As an extension to the Facebook campaign, a digital media surveillance system was set up, with data summarized into situation reports to further aid policymakers and advocates.
